Chamaerops humilis
The European fan palm produces rounded fan leaves divided deeply into stiff narrow segments. Leaf colour can range from green through blue-green or silvery tones, and the leaf stalks carry sharp marginal spines.
Many plants form basal shoots and develop several crowns on short stems, while some specimens remain more solitary. The firm fans sit densely around each crown, giving an established container plant a broad, substantial outline.
