A dense compact crown combines dark leaf colour, red accents and a crisp patterned centre in Begonia rex 'Etna'. The foliage sits above a shallow rhizome and builds into a tight mound as new leaves expand.
Bright filtered light keeps the crown balanced, while stable warmth and a loose substrate protect the surface rhizome from staying too wet. Water when the upper layer is lightly dry and reduce watering as growth slows in winter. A humidifier or enclosed shelf can support new leaves during dry indoor periods, provided airflow stays fresh. Remove old leaves cleanly and repot into a shallow container when the rhizome reaches the edge.
