Begonia hemsleyana 'Silver Dots' grows on upright cane-like stems with velvety dark leaves dusted in small silver spots and coloured maroon beneath, giving the plant contrast without making it look flashy. The leaves are narrow enough to keep the outline elegant, while the arching arrangement softens the vertical habit and prevents it from feeling stiff.
Bright indirect light helps the spotting stay visible, and a light organic mix with plenty of air around the roots keeps growth steady between waterings. Humidity in the 60–80% range suits it best, especially while new leaves are unfurling, and occasional pinching can keep the silhouette denser and more balanced. It is a useful begonia when you want something taller and more botanical in feel than rex hybrids, but still patterned enough to stand apart from plain green cane forms.
