Begonia burkillii 'Silver Edge' forms compact rhizomatous clumps with broad leaves showing silver-green centres, near-black margins, and fine green venation that threads the whole blade together. The contrast is calmer and more refined than on louder rex-type hybrids, which makes it especially useful where you want patterned foliage without a chaotic mix of colours.
Bright indirect light keeps the silver field from dulling, while evenly moist but well-aerated soil prevents the rhizomes from sitting stagnant. Higher humidity helps preserve the dark rim cleanly, because dry air often shows first as crisped edges or tired margins. Indoors it usually stays around 20–30 cm tall and wide, so it is easy to place in smaller collections.
Its value lies in that controlled palette and compact habit, not in speed, flowers, or dramatic vertical growth.
