Arrow-narrow leaves, red edging and fine dotted stems make Begonia amphioxus a small Begonia species from Sabah, Borneo. Its sharply pointed leaves stay slender on fine stems, creating a compact plant with strong detail at a small scale. The red margins and spotting stand out on the narrow blades while the plant stays low.
This species needs warm, humid growing conditions with filtered light and a very open substrate that stays lightly moist without turning stale. A terrarium, vitrine or humid cabinet can prevent the thin stems from drying too quickly, but gentle airflow remains important around the spotted leaves.
