Alocasia 'Black Cobra' pairs deep green leaves with almost black petioles, standing upright with a taut, poised look that gives the plant much more presence than its size alone suggests. The dark stems are the real signature here, creating contrast and structure even when the blades themselves stay clean and relatively simple. It is thought of as a hybrid-type compact Alocasia and behaves that way indoors, with slow to moderate growth from a corm-like base and a controlled, upright silhouette rather than broad spread.
Bright indirect light keeps the shape tight, while warm temperatures, an airy aroid mix, and measured watering protect the roots and support strong new growth. Let the upper layer dry somewhat before watering again, and avoid overpotting or constant disturbance.
For growers who want dark stem drama and a cleaner vertical habit instead of heavy texture or variegation, it is an excellent choice.
