Dracaena bacularis 'Fernwood Mikado' is a compact upright cultivar with slim cylindrical leaves gathered into dense vertical clusters with a reed-like look. The deep green foliage carries subtle horizontal banding, and the narrow footprint makes it useful for desks, shelves, or corners where broader plants would take too much room. Despite the refined appearance, care is simple: bright indirect light is best but lower light is tolerated, the substrate should be a sharply draining succulent mix, and watering should wait until the pot has dried fully.
The plant tolerates dry air, grows slowly, and stores water in its foliage, so overwatering is a much bigger threat than brief neglect. Offsets are the easiest way to propagate it, and it is also mildly toxic if ingested.
