Sarracenia 'Juthatip Soper' is a show-stopping hybrid between Sarracenia leucophylla and Sarracenia purpurea, known for its vivid hot pink pitchers with bold red veining and elegant, ruffled hoods. It forms tight clumps with vigorous upright growth, turning deep maroon in cooler weather. Like all Sarracenia, it’s carnivorous and thrives in nutrient-poor bog conditions, catching insects to supplement its diet. Whether you're building a bog garden or expanding your collection, this cultivar is a dramatic focal point year-round.
This hybrid follows the growth rhythm of its North American parent species. It thrives in nutrient-poor, acidic bogs across the southeastern US. Outdoors, it tolerates hot summers and frosty winters with root protection. Dormancy is essential for long-term survival.
This is a cold-hardy carnivorous plant that thrives when its wetland roots are respected. Bright light, consistent water, and a cool winter rest are the keys to success. Indoors, it’s best suited for experienced growers with high-light setups and humidifiers.
The genus Sarracenia is named after Dr. Michel Sarrazin (1659 – 1734), a French physician and botanist in Quebec who first documented North American pitcher plants. 'Juthatip Soper' was bred by M. Soper in the UK and named in honor of his wife, Juthatip. It received an RHS Award of Merit and Cultural Commendation at the Westminster Show in 1998.
With its bold pink pitchers and vigorous growth, Sarracenia 'Juthatip Soper' is a must-have for any carnivorous plant lover. Order now and bring color and character to your bog setup or container garden!
