Echeveria 'Lola' forms near-perfect, symmetrical rosettes of thick, spoon-shaped leaves. Each leaf has a smooth, matte surface with tones that shift between icy lilac, silvery green, soft pink, and light blue depending on lighting and temperature. The tight, sculptural shape gives it a classic âsucculentâ look, while the color palette adds elegance to minimalist or pastel-themed setups.
This cultivar grows slowly and stays compact, making it ideal for windowsills, shallow bowls, mixed succulent arrangements, or as a standalone statement in terracotta. Itâs easy to grow, highly drought-tolerant, and thrives with minimal fuss when given the right light and soil conditions.
'Lola' is a hybrid created by famed succulent breeder Dick Wright in the USA, believed to be a cross between Echeveria lilacina and Echeveria derenbergii. It mimics arid-adapted growth, storing water in its leaves and growing best in dry, bright conditions with excellent airflow. Indoors, it prefers a south- or west-facing window and minimal water.
This plant is non-toxic and safe around pets and people, making it a great option for family households and open spaces.
âLolaâ does best when left alone in a bright, dry space. Avoid overwatering, especially in cooler months, and always use a pot with a drainage hole. Rotate regularly to keep the rosette symmetrical, and donât crowd it with other plants â it needs airflow to prevent mold or rot. If it gets leggy, you can decapitate and replant the top rosette â it will root easily with time.
The genus name Echeveria honors Mexican botanical illustrator Atanasio EcheverrĂa. The cultivar name âLolaâ was introduced by hybridizer Dick Wright, selected for its symmetry, soft hues, and resilience â it remains one of the most recognizable and widely grown ornamental Echeveria hybrids today.
Can I keep 'Lola' outside? Yes, in warm months â just make sure it stays dry and gets plenty of sun. Bring inside before temperatures drop.
Does it need to be misted? No â misting can damage the farina and increase rot risk. Always water at the base.
How do I propagate 'Lola'? Simply remove a healthy leaf, let it callous for a few days, then place on dry soil â roots will follow.
Order today and grow Echeveria 'Lola' â sculptural, soft-toned, and effortless to care for.
