Goeppertia elliptica 'Vittata' is a cultivated form of a tropical Marantaceae species native to Colombia and French Guiana. Previously classified as Calathea elliptica, this species is known for its elliptic, bright green leaves lined with precise white stripes. 'Vittata' is a non-registered horticultural cultivar, widely appreciated for its symmetrical variegation and compact structure, ideal for shaded indoor environments. As part of the prayer plant group, it exhibits nyctinasty – its leaves fold up at night in response to light cycles.
Though capable of producing small, tubular white flowers, flowering indoors is rare and not the main ornamental feature. Plants grown in stable, high-humidity greenhouse conditions may flower more reliably.
Goeppertia elliptica 'Vittata' is considered non-toxic to pets and humans, making it safe for homes with cats, dogs, or small children.
Bring home Goeppertia elliptica 'Vittata' for elegant striping, compact form, and rhythmic leaf movement. It’s a must-have for any tropical plant enthusiast looking for a low-light stunner that’s safe for pets and kids. Get yours now – limited stock available.
