Plants for Full Sun
Full sun is usually six hours or more of direct light. It can bring strong growth and generous flowering, but it also dries soil quickly and heats pots, especially near bright walls and paving.
Sun-loving plants often cope well with drying between waterings once established, as long as roots have air and drainage is good. Heavy, slow-draining soil can cause root stress after rain even in sunny weather. In containers, larger soil volume makes watering more forgiving and helps keep roots from overheating.

About Our Filters
Filters help you narrow things down fast and without guessing. We put a lot of time and effort into keeping filter values consistent across the shop by cross-checking references and validating them against real-world indoor growing and handling.
Use them as guidance, not guarantees. Homes vary a lot, so for the full context (and any exceptions), open the product page and read the description.
How filtering works
- Filters stack: each selection narrows results.
- Multiple picks in one filter are usually either/or within that filter.
- Undo anytime: click a selected option again (or clear filters).
Safety
- Non-toxic: not known for relevant chemical toxicity for common pets (chewing can still cause irritation).
- Non-toxic & Pet Friendly: stricter shortlist that also avoids many physical hazards like spines, sharp tips, thorns, and bristles.
Common care filters
- Light level: Low indirect → Full sun/direct.
- Water Needs: Low / Medium / High.
- Humidity Level: Normal (40–50%) / Moist (50–60%) / Humid (60–80%+).
Growth & size
- Growth Habit: climbing, trailing, crawling, upright, self-heading, clumping, rosette.
- Needs support? none / optional / needed.
- Delivered size: pot size + plant height at shipping.
- Max size indoors: realistic long-term height + spread indoors.

Plants for Full Sun
Quick Overview
- Full sun combines strong light with faster drying soil and higher surface heat.
- Containers need more soil volume than you expect to stay stable through hot days.
- Wind makes sun feel harsher by drying leaves and soil faster.
- Free draining soil still needs some moisture holding capacity for steady roots.
- Deep watering that reaches the full root zone supports better growth than constant small splashes.
- Leaf edge scorch usually comes from heat and moisture swings, not from low nutrients.
- Moderate feeding helps sun plants keep pace without turning soft and thirsty.
Details & Care
Full sun means several hours of direct light, often paired with warmer surfaces and faster drying soil. It is a great growing condition, but it asks for plants that can handle heat and water loss without constant stress signals.
The biggest difference between a sunny bed and a sunny pot is speed. Containers warm quickly and can go from evenly moist to dry in a single day, especially in wind or on dark paving.
- Heat and reflection: Hot paving and walls raise leaf temperatures. Plants that tolerate heat stay cleaner and keep flowering longer.
- Root zone volume: More soil buffers heat and moisture swings. Small pots are the fastest route to wilting.
- Soil structure: Free drainage matters, but the mix still needs some moisture holding so roots do not dry out instantly.
- Wind exposure: Wind strips moisture from foliage and dries soil. A sheltered corner can feel like a different climate.
- Watering rhythm: Deep watering that wets the full root zone supports steadier growth than frequent light splashes.
Sun plants often show stress in predictable ways. Midday wilt that recovers by evening points to heat load and fast dry down, while persistent droop can point to roots that are too tight in the pot.
If your sun is paired with reflected heat, keeping roots cooler is as important as watering. Larger pots, lighter coloured containers, and a mulch or top dressing can all reduce root temperature swings.
- Mulch and top dressing: A thin mulch layer slows evaporation and keeps roots cooler in beds and large pots.
- Stress signals: Leaf edge scorch and crisping usually trace back to heat and moisture swings, not a lack of fertiliser.
- Feeding: Sun driven growth uses nutrients faster. Moderate feeding supports flowering without pushing weak, thirsty shoots.
- Summer storms: Heavy rain after a dry spell can compact soil. Good structure and drainage prevent setbacks.
- Seasonal planning: Some plants peak in early summer, others in late summer heat. Mixing timings keeps the display going.
Use this group when your space gets long sun hours. With the right pot volume, drainage, and watering rhythm, full sun becomes a strength instead of a constant struggle.

Everything arrived in good condition and very well packed - it wasn't easy with a fragile plant and a heavy bag of substrate. I recommend it!
