Phlox paniculata 'Laura' is a garden phlox with rich purple flowers and a clear white eye, held in large, fragrant heads above an upright clump. It brings strong colour in high summer without reading heavy, and it sits well next to grasses and pale perennials that soften the palette.
Sold as three plants for a fuller planting, 'Laura' typically reaches about 70 to 90 cm tall and 45 to 60 cm wide, flowering from July into September (often pushing later in warm autumns).
The set-of-three format also makes it easy to plant as a small triangle or short row, so the flowerheads read as one block of colour. Scattered single stems can look sparse and are more likely to lean once the flowerheads are heavy.
Meadows, river margins and open woodland of eastern North America; selected forms grown for stronger stems and flower colour.
