Origanum vulgare 'Compactum' is a low, tidy oregano that keeps its shape. Lean soil and fast drainage keep herbs compact and less prone to winter losses. Aromatic leaves sit on short stems, and in summer the plant can carry small clusters of pinkish flowers that soften the mound and bring a light, natural look to gravel beds and sunny borders.
This listing is a set of 3 plants, useful for planting a small herb edging, filling a rockery pocket, or making a fuller planting in a large pot. Origanum vulgare 'Compactum' prefers sun and sharp drainage - it stays tighter and fragrant in lean soil in typical garden conditions.
For culinary use, snip fresh tips as needed. Light trimming keeps the mound dense. After flowering, a gentle cut-back helps maintain a neat shape and encourages fresh leafy growth. In late winter or early spring, clear dead stems to make room for new shoots. Lean, free draining soil keeps herbs compact and aromatic. Very rich soil can push soft growth and make plants more prone to flopping or winter losses.
