Dischidia sp. Geri D22 'Apple Leaf' is a rare, unidentified Dischidia species known from cultivated collections, recognised for its compact growth and rounded, shiny green leaves that resemble tiny apples in both shape and gloss. Unlike other trailing Dischidia, this form grows more upright at first before cascading gently, making it suitable for smaller hanging pots, narrow shelves, or mounted displays. Its unusual foliage and tight internodes give it a bushier, tidier look than many other epiphytes in the genus. A true collector’s find with easy-care habits.
This plant is part of an unidentified species group within the genus Dischidia, originally sourced under the code “Geri D22” from Southeast Asia. While its exact origin and classification are still under investigation, it clearly exhibits epiphytic traits common to the genus – growing on bark, moss, or stone in warm, humid forest margins. It thrives with the same care as most Dischidia: indirect light, high humidity, and excellent airflow. The cultivar nickname 'Apple Leaf' comes from its characteristic foliage shape.
Dischidia 'Apple Leaf' is non-toxic and considered safe to grow around pets and children.
This plant prefers to be slightly root-bound and enjoys airy pots or mounted setups where moisture evaporates quickly. Dischidia sp. Geri D22 'Apple Leaf' thrives under conditions that replicate its native habitat: warm, filtered light, high humidity, and a breathable, low-nutrient substrate. It’s particularly suited to terrarium-style growing or minimal setups that highlight its foliage form.
Dischidia comes from Greek “dis” (two) and “schidion” (split), referencing its twin-follicle seed pods. While this form is currently undescribed at species level, its code name “Geri D22” reflects its place in cultivated circulation. The nickname 'Apple Leaf' refers to its leaf shape, not a botanical trait, and helps distinguish it among collectors and hobby growers.
Compact, rare, and beautifully structured – Dischidia sp. Geri D22 'Apple Leaf' brings subtle charm and collector’s value to any indoor jungle. Order now and grow this unique Dischidia with glossy, rounded foliage.
