Nepenthes 'Miranda' is a complex highland hybrid, most likely a cross of N. (northiana x maxima) x maxima. An impressive tropical pitcher plant, which grows vigorously. When fully mature, its pitchers can reach lengths of over 45 cm and have wide mouths resembling coffee cups. The hood is narrow while the wings are wide and ruffled, giving it an interesting appearance. This plant is heat tolerant and thrives when placed near a window.
Not only that, its quite effective at trapping larger insects like stink bugs, wasps, and yellow jackets. With its fast growth rate, you can easily trim its stems to maintain a bushy shape or even propagate new plants.

Genus epithet 'Nepenthes' derived from Greek terms 'ne' (not) and 'penthos' (sorrow, grief), meaning 'no sorrow' or 'banished sorrow', as based on the ancient Greek name for an antidepressant drug called 'Nepenthe' which drives away all sorrows by the means of forgetfulness, and used here in connection with the reported medicinal qualities of some Nepenthes species.
