Nepenthes 'Linda'

Nepenthes 'Linda' is one of two introductions from Hampshire Carnivorous Plants, along with N. 'Louisa' - each named after breeder Tony Kuiper's daughters. It is a highland hybrid and is a cross between N.Rebecca Soper x N.ventricosa red pitcher. A very vigorous grower producing huge pitchers which can grow up to 40 cm in length.

;

Genus epithet 'Nepenthes' derived from Greek terms 'ne' (not) and 'penthos' (sorrow, grief), meaning 'no sorrow' or 'banished sorrow', as based on the ancient Greek name for an antidepressant drug called 'Nepenthe' which drives away all sorrows by the means of forgetfulness, and used here in connection with the reported medicinal qualities of some Nepenthes species.
