Dracaena (Sansevieria) trifasciata 'Night Shade' is a cultivar of Dracaena trifasciata (Prain) Mabb
It belongs to the genus Dracaena (formerly Sansevieria) from the family Asparagaceae. Recognisable by its bright ornate arrangement, it is one of the more decorative snake plants. Drawing its name from the structure of sabre-like leaves lancing out from a central rosette, this beautiful plant has very dark foliage adorned with yellow-variegated margin.
The name dracaena is derived from the romanized form of the Ancient Greek δράκαινα - drakaina, "female dragon".
