Alocasia sanderiana 'Nobilis' is a cultivar of Alocasia sanderiana W.Bull. It is considered one of the jewel alocasias. Its foliage is very deeply lobed, which gives it a very unusual look for an Alocasia plant. The high-contrasting midrib and primary venation, adds to its very striking look. An easy to grow plant provided the right conditions.
Alocasia sanderiana var. nobilis is not an accepted cultivar, but this name, which first appeared in literature in 1893 (nearly a decade after the species was introduced), is prevalent on the market.
Genus name comes form the Greek words a meaning without and Colocasia the name of a closely allied genus, form which it was separated.
